“We had an amazing stay at this property. We were a family of 4 adults and two children. We would definitely stay here again. It would be great in the summer to be able to use the pool. Kids had a great time trying to play tennis."

“We had a great stay here, with plenty of room for all our family. It was warm and cosy, even on a cold winter’s day. Wood box was full! Communication was excellent! Loved the box of goodies on our arrival."

“Newry Homestead is absolutely gorgeous! Our recent trip consisted of 7 adults and two children (1yo & 3yo). The huge house allowed for everyone to have their own space and the surrounding gardens were enjoyed by us all. Very private and peaceful we loved everything the house had to offer. The toys in the lounge added some extra entertainment for the children and we all had a laugh on the tennis court. Loved our stay and we will be back!"

“Newry is an absolute gem, and one of the best places to stay in Tassie. The house is cosy and luxe, and the gardens lush and wonderful to explore. The beds are super comfy and there is plenty of room to spread out in different zones of the house and property. We loved playing tennis and cooking up a storm in the well stocked kitchen. Extremely good value for money for the size of the house and gardens. We would return in a heartbeat! Thank you for a beautiful experience."

Newry is a beautiful house full of history and character! The property easily fit 9 of us in (4 adults and 5 children) without any sense of being cramped. There are multiple living areas that make escaping to your own space easy. There is also kid’s toys and games to keep the little ones entertained. The property is a short drive to local shops and cafes and very close to Launceston airport and the City of Launceston for even more amenities / entertainment. In addition, Anita is an excellent host and keeps the house in fantastic condition. She is very accommodating and flexible and easy going. I'd definitely recommend a stay at Newry, particularly if you like historic places and places with character (not just boring motels)."

“Newry made for a wonderful property to escape away to. Stunning views of the Western Tiers & the South Esk River & is only a 5min walk away. Nature in abundance, which provided a relaxing experience. The three lounges made for many quiet spaces to enjoy. The 6 gas burner stove & oven, any chef would appreciate. The fold out couch in the 3rd lounge is very good quality with an innerspring mattress, which was very comfortable. The host was very helpful & thoughtful. Only 10 mins from the airport, 5 mins to Longford & Hill Street Grocer & 15 mins to Launceston. A beautiful, historic farm stay perfect for larger families/groups."

“Beautiful large home with multiple living areas suitable for big families. Amazing views. We loved the tennis court and the gardens are to die for. Apparently the best in Tassie in their prime! Not a single complaint from us thanks for sharing such a unique home."

“A great place if  you have a car and children. We explored most of the day then came back to wonderful house and views. So much space for the 2 families, tennis court and swimming pool and tree house to amuse the active children. We had a lovely welcome basket and card and great easy self checkin so no problem with late arrivals."

“We stayed at Newry with a total of four couples for a family wedding at a nearby property. Newry with 5 bedrooms and two bathrooms is a very comfortable spot. It is only 5 minutes drive from Longford or Perth, Parking for multiple vehicles. The house was very clean and tidy on arrival and the garden is immaculate. When we arrived we were greeted by a black wallaby on the front lawn and a lot of small birds and a few wild rabbits. Overall very happy with our stay at Newry."

“Our stay at Newry was amazing. We arrived to find the fires set, fresh milk, butter and bread as well as an assortment of local jams and spreads. The weather was fantastic, warm days and cool nights so we lit the fire every night and enjoyed the tennis court and the river frontage. The large supply of chopped wood and pine cones was excellent. Lots of towels and linen and the kitchen is well equipped. We stayed for two weeks and did day trips to surrounding towns (Evendale markets, Mole Creek caves and wildlife park, Launceston, Deloraine, Ross, Hobardt and the Christmas Hill Raspberry farm to name a few). The house was spotless, there is an excellent IGA ten minutes down the road at Longford and the gardens are very beautiful. The house is very old (we particularly liked the convict thumb prints on the bricks in the entrance hall and patio) so there are a few quirks and creaks. However all the appliances are new and top notch, the beds are super comfortable and there is an enormous amount of living space. We spent most of our time in the kitchen/family room area and the back couch for reading and enjoying the rural views. We took our Apple TV and also made use of the Bluetooth speaker from the formal lounge. We loved the pet sheet and waking to cows mooing in the morning. The instruction booklet is very comprehensive and we figured out how to get to the river without any problems. We would definitely stay again."

“Newry is absolutely magnificent. It is located in a peaceful rural setting, with stunning views to the South Esk River. If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place to be. The property is huge and very well appointed and every need is provided for. Just to add a personalised touch, a little welcome card along with a basket with local produce for us to sample was left, which was really great. We found commuting to the various sights easy from this location. The added bonus was the availability of Netflix and Youtube for indoor entertainment when the weather was not very conducive to outdoor activities. Overall, a fantastic and memorable stay for us."

“Lovely house thank you for sharing."
 – Samara McCarthy, 23 July 2018

“5 bedrooms are spacious. All beds very comfortable. 2 bathrooms for sharing. plenty of towels supplied. 3 large comfortable living areas. Both wood heating and reverse cycle heating available. Average amount of bench space in the kitchen, but we were only there at breakfast time so it was plenty of space for us. Oven, stove and microwave available if we had needed to use them. We made the house a "no shoes on" house. As we were on farms during the day, we removed our shoes on entering as there is a lot of carpet inside. However, this is what we all do in our own homes anyway. It's about 3 kms from Perth (Tas) and 5 kms from Longford which meant it was quick and easy to get to shops, fuel, takeaways etc. About 15 mins to Launceston airport. 1hr to Denvonport East (Spirit of Tasmania). Away from main road so lovely and quiet. Beautiful setting looking over the Esk river. We are definitely going to book here again.

“Gorgeous rural views, tranquil, spacious inside and out. Really appreciated the groceries, drinks, fresh autumn fruit, have left oil, soy sauce, tomato sauce for next guests. Thanks for the pots and peelers provided when requested. Kitchen scissors would be useful. Excellent farm tour and helpful local knowledge.

“Our stay here was lovely and unforgettable.

“Many thanks to the family for so kindly sharing their beautiful property in Longford. It was a wonderful farm-stay experience loved by the whole family! The children particularly enjoyed playing in the tree house, exploring the cottage-style gardens, riding on the tractor and visiting the pet lambs.

We are very grateful for the generous hospitality extended to our family during our stay. It is a beautifully appointed homestead, well equipped for families. We enjoyed a fun filled week and hope to return again.

“A great place to stay with a large group. We had 5 adults and 3 kids, plenty of room for all. Loved the basket of goodies on arrival. We all love the pool/tennis court and the wildlife. Great location, we travelled all over the northern part and to Hobart. Very comfortable large country farm house, enjoyed by all. Nothing was a problem to Jeanette, very helpful.

We have had a wonderful week, thank you. Couldn’t have had a better place to stay with kids.

P.s Longford IGA is great and open late.”

"Newry is a very special place. A little bit of old England Country Estate in the heart of the most historic and picturesque part of Tasmania. The property was only minutes from Launceston airport but it felt as though we were a world away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday. We loved that the property had sweeping views across to the Western Tiers where the sunsets from the kitchen window were amazing. Our boys had so much fun fishing and what a treat to have a private river frontage. We explored so much of the central and midlands as the location was perfectly located to explore the exceptional food and wine in this area.

The property was immaculate and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped as well as the laundry.

We had an amazing stay and the kids loved the farm animals, it was a delightful experience and we would thoroughly recommend Newry as a wonderful 5 star farm stay experience."
